Facebook Emphasizes the Personalization, Mobilization and Amplification of Content

At F8, Facebook’s most recent developer’s conference, the company unrolled new changes to Facebook emphasizing a richer experience for users and a focus on content. In short, the changes will push brands to go beyond “likes” while presenting new opportunities for broader distribution of messages to the brands that are most successful at capturing and holding attention of individuals on and off the network.

Tweets for Sweets: Ben & Jerry’s Takes Social Media Marketing on the Road for Second Year

Last year, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of their “New York Super Fudge Chunk” flavor, Ben & Jerry’s aligned its summer sampling program with the culturally relevant Food Truck craze – you can’t walk down the street of any major U.S. city without seeing one. The program ran in New York City and Boston giving fans an active voice in determining the tour stops by using social media platforms to tell Ben & Jerry’s where THEY wanted the truck to deliver FREE ice cream.

At the completion of the program the results were so successful that Ben & Jerry’s…

When Blogs Mean Business

Back in 2006, I started a blog. But the novelty has worn off—nobody talks about them anymore, and that is validation that they are simply a part of how we now do business. Companies are also now content engines—this is the premise of the “owned” digital property, one which you have considerable control…

The Path Forward

It may not seem all that long ago that we announced the addition of Mike Slaby to our team. Mike Slaby played a crucial role in US President Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. Mike left such an indelible mark on the campaign and on the President that he has been asked to return for the 2012 campaign. That news means that after a short and eventful stay with us, Mike is heeding the President’s call.

We wish Slaby the best in ‘round 2’ with President Obama.

When Mike informed…

Tweeting with Purpose

We all know teens are fanatically using social media to gossip, flirt and tease – this is no revelation. What has received less widespread acknowledgement however, is how teens are harnessing the web to rally around charitable causes and drive political activism movements.

A World Vision study released in February shows that there are misconceptions about teens’ priorities and online activities, as almost half of all…

Confessions of a Social Media Rookie

Have you ever been asked in an interview, “Facebook or MySpace?”  Well, I had to explain during my interview with Phil Gomes, senior vice president for Edelman Digital, my many reasons for favoring Facebook.

And that is how my journey at Edelman Digital began nearly nine months ago. For the first six months, I worked on Edelman’s
