This month marks the beginning of a new experiment at Authenticities. Each month will have a new theme, much like a magazine, that all of the writers will address in one form or another.
To get things started, we will each be reviewing and recommending books during the month of June. After reading
Love Is The Killer App by Time Sanders, I make a point of prescribing books to people like a doctor would prescribe medicine.
Each week Edelman Digital sends out an internal newsletter called the Friday5 and two past editions have been book recommendations. To get the month started, here are the five books we've recommended last summer. How many have you read?

Wow! Lots of amazing documenting going on here at
mesh08 in Toronto Canada. I tried to add CopyItLive to my personal blog, but didn't manage it. Check out
Dave Fleet's site to see how it works and follow his live-blogging.

In case you missed it, next week is mesh 2008 in Tortonto. It is Canada's Web Conference and Edelman is a sponsor and does the PR. The Edelman team in Toronto asked me to come up to blog and twitter for the duration.
As we gear up, I sent five questions to each of the mesh guys and here is
Rob Hyndman's interview.

The mini-interviews with the mesh guys keep rolling in.
Mark Evans, one of top mobile/wireless bloggers chimes in with his answers to the five questions as we gear up for
mesh 2008.
1. What is your favorite anecdote or moment from the past two mesh conferences?
My personal highlight is standing beside the stage as the first mesh started, and suddenly realizing that after only nine weeks of preparations we had really organized a conference with 400+ people. It was one of those moments that you never forget.

This is the second interview with one of the "mesh guys."
Stuart MacDonald sent me his answers to the same five questions and I'm lucky enough to get to share them with you.

As you know, I'm heading to
mesh08 next week in Toronto and I did a quick interview with each of the founders. To make it easy on them, I sent them each the same five questions.
Here are
Matt Ingram's answers.

Even though my life revolves around online and digital work, I'm making a concerted effort to meet more people face to face. If you want to hang out, here are some of the places I'll be in the next couple months.
Social Media Breakfast with Jeff Pulver and Friends. Jeff has been spearheading a bunch of breakfasts around the country and I'll be at the
Chicago breakfast this Wednesday, May 7th. It's a great networking event and certainly not limited to digital types.

My path to Edelman wasn't typical, not that I'm sure anyone has a typical career path anymore. My degree is in Chemistry, my jobs after college included
university housing,
study abroad administration,
non-profits in
Colorado, and my final job before Edelman was managing a small ice cream parlor.

My new gig in Edelman Digital is Digital-Culture Evangelist. If it isn't crystal clear what I'm doing, it is an internal communications position focused on helping take every PR professional at Edelman another step forward in their digital life. It's very exciting to come to work every day and be focused on culture change.

For those of us who advise and pay attention to blogger relations in the industry,
this week has been a
hard one. I feel like others have done a great job covering and commenting on these stories, so I wanted to take an opportunity to share how I train staff to talk to bloggers.

A
New York Times article about a new orchestra caught my eye the other day, which is surprising. I put my oboe away for good in 1997 after spending all of junior high, high school and part of college in rehearsals and occasionally performing.

I collect mentors and role models all over the place. People I've met in person, like
Pinny Gniwisch of Ice.com, and people I've met only on the internet like
Jen Lemen or
Scott Westerfeld. I think there are a lot of lessons to be learned from these folks and others, but Scott is the person I want to talk about today.

When Rick and I (and many others) were tossing ideas around for this blog, Rick found
Robert Rabbin's Six Principles of Authentic Living. I might be scooping him, but I wanted to write a few thoughts about the first idea on Rabbin's list: Live your own life...

I share this story occasionally, it’s very personal but also one of the more important moments and lessons of my twenties. After I got my degree in Chemistry from
Millikin University, I did what nobody in my department did—I skipped grad school. Instead of going down the path towards a PhD, I moved to Durango, Colorado and worked at
Fort Lewis College for two years as a Resident Director.
You might have known the RD under a different name like Hall Director...
