On September 27, nearly 300 local bloggers and journalists gathered in Orlando, Florida for
BlogOrlando3. Phil Gomes and Leah Jones headed south from Chicago and each led a session—Phil talked about internal training and Leah talked about search skills. Along with the other participants, both came away with global lessons from this highly successful hyper local unconference.
This week we thought we would share some of the case studies and lessons from
BlogOrlando3.

On Friday, I had the pleasure of addressing the annual conference of the

Opatija.

Auburn University's Robert French is to be congratulated for what he's accomplished with
PROpenMic. In just six months, the site stacks up quite favorably in every measure to the likes of
myragan.com (the closest thing I can compare it to) and even some other well-known PR-focused sites.
I'll let
Robert's analysis speak for itself. For my part, there are a number of lessons for all PR practitioners here, both new and experienced.

A few weekends ago, I joined Jessi Langsen, Meg Howard and Lauren Van Holten for a day of checking out NextFest and connecting outside of the office. Like any well-prepared (or tech addicted) twentysomething, I came armed with my Flip...

Paul Lockstone, who is our financial PR guru here in London, asked me what advice I would give to banks and other business struggling with their reputations in these days of financial upheaval.
I offered 7 points which
he posted on
his blog. I've cross-posted them just below. They appear just below. What have I left out?

Blah, blah blah. So many PR blogs tell you what to do. Do this, don’t do that. Can’t you read the signs? I thought this was a conversation after all. I’ve got a better idea. Rather than lecture to you,...

While attending the
Institute for International Research -- Middle East (IIRME) 2008 PR Congress in
Dubai, I had the good fortune to meet Donald Steel, the
BBC's head of press.
After lunch, we sat down for a quick interview. This was only an hour or so after he delivered an excellent talk about crisis communications, topping it off with an intense hour-long version of a five-hour crisis exercise that BBC's communicators and marketers undergo.
The question was "What skills to new PR pros need to learn with regard to crisis comms?" Hear his answer after the jump.

Running around with my trusty

I posted the result on

With the US Presidential election just days away, it seemed like it is time to share five more ways to follow the results and news. This edition of the Friday5 does not endorse either candidate for president, it is just meant to offer a few new ways to follow the US Presidential election online.
