My colleague David Brain drew my attention to this data from Forrester.

The data tend to confirm what I have suggested in the past: In the UK, blogs haven't reached the status that they have in other markets. But that said, other forms of social media have. Indeed, the same table shows adoption of online video in the UK to be significant.

It's also worth noting that this information dates from last year, which is an eternity when it comes to social media.

It's almost exactly the same scenario here in Australia. Blogs are seen as too "broadcast", and too much about one person's opinion, whereas social networking sites and especially forums / bulletin boards are far more popular, participatory and inclusive.

I would assume that the cultural similarities between the UK and Australia would be a key to this - any other thoughts?
