Journalists are working harder than ever, in large part because they are being tapped to create content for multiple media. This according to a PR Newswire/PR Week study that will be released Monday, March 31.
Fifty-seven percent of 1,231 bloggers/journalists respondents surveyed feel they are being asked to work more today that in the past few years, while 56% say they are contributing to other mediums outside of their official duty. This includes 22% who are blogging for their traditional publication.
The encouraging news is that most feel that PR professionals are still valuable contributors. Less than 7% said they would prefer not to be contacted by PR pros at all. However, 49% of bloggers say that PR pitches only result in stories 0-25% of the time.
Finally, nearly 73% of those surveyed sometimes or always use blogs in their research, most often “to measure sentiment.”
