As we are building our Twitter network (whether personal or for a brand) there comes a time when it’s a little difficult to keep up with the influx of new followers. While Twitter’s email notifications have improved over the years, they don’t necessarily give you all the information you need to follow someone back and it can be time consuming to look at every individual new follower profile as notifications come in throughout the day. The tools below can help you keep up with day-to-day updates associated with your Twitter account.

New Launches in Search for Bing and Google
This week there were updates to both Google and Bing’s search platforms. Google announced their new search index called “Caffeine” which provides 50% fresher results for web search and it’s the largest collection of web content they’ve offered. This means your searches will produce more relevant content than ever before. Bing (client) released their social search which showcases trends, Twitter updates, and Facebook results all in one search. The results from Facebook will include status updates and shared l…

How To Disclose With CMP.ly
June 7, 2010
Phil Gomes, Tom Chernaik and I recently sat down to discuss the growing need to disclose and identify involvement in social media programs. Tom created CMP.ly last year to respond to this need. CMP.ly provides bloggers and advertisers simple disclosure solutions, even if you are limited to only 140 characters.
How are you disclosing connections in social media programs?

Seeing is believing and visuals are powerful. I’ve collected a few visualization tools for Facebook, news feeds, and Twitter to let you view networks and conversations at a glance.

How Are You Creating Value In Social Media?
May 17, 2010
A few weeks ago I attended SOBCon in Chicago to participate in a discussion about strategies and tactics for integrating online and offline social marketing. Between the thoughtful breakout discussions, the refreshing panels, and the evening entertainment (social media people love karaoke) I asked attendees “How are you creating value in social media”. We decided to showcase a few responses in a video created by our Edelman Creative production company.
Thanks to everyone that participated including Liz Strauss, David Murray, Lewis Howes, Jason Keath, Jul…

Finding The Right Tweeple
April 21, 2010
A few weeks ago I asked what topics you wanted on EdelmanDigital.com and you responded that you’d like to read more about tools and resources. Starting this week, we’ll be featuring social media tools from contributors around the world.
Today’s tools are to help you find new people on Twitter to follow because once you’ve added your address book contacts (Gmail, Yahoo, AOL) it can be a little daunting to find new people. Sure, Twitter has a “find people” search but it’s really only best if you know the real name of the person you are looking for or if yo…

Crowdsourced Criticism And Recommendations For Social Media
April 15, 2010
Last week I asked the @EdelmanDigital Twitter followers the question below.
The @EdelmanDigital followers quickly chimed in and all the feedback they gave were points that companies should consider about their social media programs. Here are a few key responses to my question:
@eric_andersen: How to thank people for mentions and respond to replies – so simple, yet so few do
@krlooney: “When using social media I wish more companies knew what they believed.” variation: “the future they stand for”
@joachimschulz: “how”
@pcambron…

Today marks the one-month digiversary of the re-design of EdelmanDigital.com. I’m beyond amazed at how far the site has come in our first month. We’ve just published our 30th contributor and our 72nd post and we have big plans to grow even more in the next few months.
We wouldn’t be where we are today without the support of our community. I think Rick Murray, President of Digital, said it best in his post when we launched, “It Takes A Village”. He couldn’t have been more right. It does take a village to run this site and I am thankful for all the …
