Volkswagen Group of America (VW) has named Edelman as its Social Media Agency of Record following a competitive RFP process involving multiple digital agencies. In January, Edelman was also named Volkswagen’s PR Agency of Record.

“Volkswagen has a unique bond with its customers. Social media allows us to increase engagement, enhance relationships and empower customers to become even stronger advocates for the brand,” said…

Friday Five: Cave Walls to Facebook Walls – Digital Memory Sharing

Many of us post, check-in, share and click as routinely as we brush our teeth in the morning. In between the lines of every status update, tagged photo and uploaded video is a digital movement that is redefining how we preserve one of a community’s greatest possessions – its memories. From a cultural standpoint, memories have broader implications than nostalgia. As explained in an

The PR Pro’s Guide to YouTube

The public relations profession is built on a foundation of two-way communication. Whether it’s working with the media, writing a tweet or building a website, communications professionals are tasked with raising awareness of their employers’ or clients’ work and perspectives -– and learning from and responding to the conversation.

Video sharing sites like YouTube are an excellent way to break the ice because nothing online…

Health Digital Check-Up: Physical Meets Digital

As adoption of digital in the health space continues to grow, it’s important that we look to the next frontier and focus on opportunities to interconnect our physical and digital worlds. This year at SXSW, Google’s Marissa Meyer took the stage to talk about how Google will connect the digital and physical worlds through mobile. During her talk, Meyer astutely described the mobile phone as, “a cursor…

Pardon Our Dust

The picture above is the current state of our master bathroom—it’s a mess and has been out of use for weeks. A bathroom re-model is no easy task. We had to plan, then demolish then rebuild. But we know the end result will be well worth it. An updated master bath that we will enjoy using, be proud of and add value to our house (well, in the long run anyway).

The same goes for this property (Edelmandigital.com). On Monday, April 25 we will be shutting the site down for a full day while we do some updates required for the next iteration. We’ll be live again on Tuesday and we will…

Friday Five: Managing Digital Distractions

Let’s face it—digital tools are constantly competing for our attention in this business. Paying attention to how we’re spending time is becoming more and more important for companies and individuals. Here are some ways to avoid digital distractions so you can buckle down and get some work done.

1. Avoid multitasking.
The lure of taking your eyes off a current project can be tempting. However, when you lose focus on something you’re working on, you can lose time. Try blocking time in your day to work on projects for a period of time before going back to your distractions….

My New Job Sounds Great. But What Is It?

Yesterday as news circulated that I’d be taking a new role at Edelman (EVP, Global Innovation & Integration). I spotted a tweet that I was secretly hoping I’d get. Zach wasn’t sure what my title meant—but congratulated me anyway. He brings up a valid point. Words like innovation are vague and in the past have been overused. And the word “integration” can be a number of things. But we chose these words purposefully and here’s my take on what they mean:

Innovation

Simply put, it’s…

Germany Digital Agency Gosub Joins Edelman Digital

Another day, another piece of big, exciting news for Edelman Digital.

I’m pleased to announce that today, Berlin-based interactive agency Gosub joined Edelman Digital.

Gosub describes itself as interactive, interdisciplinary, and always a bit ahead of its time. I loved this, because it also sounds a lot like Edelman Digital.

Gosub was founded in 1997, and has been delivering super-creative digital solutions to clients in Germany and elsewhere ever since. They’ve got strong credentials across the full suite of creative and tech…

The Path Forward

It may not seem all that long ago that we announced the addition of Mike Slaby to our team. Mike Slaby played a crucial role in US President Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. Mike left such an indelible mark on the campaign and on the President that he has been asked to return for the 2012 campaign. That news means that after a short and eventful stay with us, Mike is heeding the President’s call.

We wish Slaby the best in ‘round 2’ with President Obama.

When Mike informed…
